Pac-Man Chasing the Ghosts – My 3D Model Showcase & Process

Post content (ready to use):One of the models I currently have available is a fun 3D recreation of the classic arcade scene: Pac-Man chasing the ghosts. In this post I’ll share a bit about the model, what went into creating it, and where you can get it if you’d like to use it in your own projects.

About the Model

This piece captures the iconic moment from the original Pac-Man game — the yellow character pursuing the colorful ghosts through a simple maze-like environment. I wanted to keep the nostalgic feel while giving the characters clean, modern 3D forms that work well for rendering, animation tests, or game prototypes.
Creation ProcessI combined traditional modeling techniques with some AI assistance for the initial base shapes. After generating the rough forms, I spent time refining the topology by hand so the meshes stay clean and usable. Good topology is especially important when you plan to animate or subdivide the models later — something pure AI outputs often struggle with.
Key steps included:
  • Blocking out the basic shapes for Pac-Man and each ghost
  • Cleaning up edge flow and reducing unnecessary geometry
  • Adding materials and simple colors that stay true to the original game palette
  • Setting up basic lighting to show the characters clearly
  • Final rendering and presentation images

Even though AI tools can speed up the early stages, the final quality still depends heavily on human cleanup and artistic decisions.

Final ThoughtsRecreating classic game characters is always enjoyable — it mixes nostalgia with technical challenges. If you’re working on similar projects, remember that spending extra time on clean topology pays off later when you start texturing, rigging, or animating.
